Women are capable of building extraordinary businesses:
- Profitable businesses.
- Flexible businesses.
- Influential businesses.
- Scalable businesses.
And the UK economy needs more of them.
Research suggests that if women started and scaled businesses at the same rate as men, billions could be added to the UK economy. Yet millions of women still never start because they lack confidence, support, visible role models and access to the right networks.
But there’s another truth that rarely gets talked about openly and that is that most women aren’t just questioning:
“Can I build a successful business?”,
but what they’re actually asking is:
“What will it cost me if I do?”
Women feel forced into two extremes:
- Sacrifice everything for success.
Or
- Stay small to protect their life.
MIYB exists in the middle of that conversation because we believe ambition and presence can exist together.
We believe women should be able to build businesses, contribute economically, lead powerfully and create financial independence … without sacrificing themselves, their health, their families or their humanity in the process.
Success means very different things to different women, some women want £60k and freedom and others want £6m and scale. Neither is more or less valid than the other.
We believe:
- success should be defined consciously… not inherited blindly from outdated models of success and societies old fashioned expectations.
- sustainable businesses are built by sustainable humans.
- brilliant women deserve to be seen and heard.
- children benefit from seeing women with ambition, leadership, purpose and financial independence …. while also being emotionally present in their lives.
This is not about perfection, or balance, or ‘having it all’. It’s about truly building a life and business that actually work together.
We want women to feel encouraged, informed, connected and supported as they navigate the real journey of business ownership and the personal evolution that brings.
At MIYB we all have a voice, we share stories openly, we elevate good people. We encourage women to contribute, collaborate and open doors for each other.
MIYB is more than networking
MIYB is a not-for profit initiative, because we are building something much bigger: a supportive and collaborative ecosystem designed to help more women build sustainable businesses so that:
- families become stronger
- communities become closer
- leadership becomes more diverse
- local economies grow
- and future generations see what becomes possible
And perhaps most importantly:
Creating a world where women no longer feel they have to choose between building something meaningful and being present in their own lives.
